Short summary
We measured grain size in 744 seafloor samples from China’s three major shelf seas. The results show a clear pattern: sediments become coarser from north to south, with fine river mud in the Bohai Sea and ancient sandy deposits on the East China Sea shelf. All analyses followed a single consistent protocol, making this the first unified dataset covering the entire Chinese continental margin. These data are freely available to support ocean research and coastal management.
