Short summary
Estimates of net forest emissions/removals were updated using the 2025 Forest Resources Assessment data, submitted by countries to the Food and Agriculture Organization. Results show that forests acted globally as sinks of atmospheric carbon, despite ongoing losses due to deforestation.  Results were consistent with country data independently submitted under the Paris Agreement and with the most recent scientific evidence.
