Short summary
The Saudi Arabian Red Sea has historically lacked detailed seafloor mapping, with existing data either limited to the central axial rift or too coarse for ecological and oceanographic research. In 2022, a five-month expedition surveyed over 49 000 km2 of seabed using multibeam echosounder systems at 5 and 40 m resolution. This dataset will support habitat mapping, deep-sea research, and future scientific investigations in the Red Sea.
