This paper presents an updated version of the GLODAPv2.2021 data product, with the inclusion of new cruises data and additional QC procedure to some of the parameters. The paper is well written and the figures are clear, the methods section report the methodology applied step-by-step for the reader. The GLODAP data product has been widely used by the community, and become a valuable tool for increase the scientific knowledge on several issues related to ocean processes, variability, and changes, as well as for models assessment. Thus, I recommend the paper to be accepted as presented.

We want to thank the reviewer for these kind words. It is immensely valuable to us that the data product is used by the scientific community, and that the scientific community finds added value in GLODAP.
As recommended no changes are made to the manuscript.
Sincerely,
Siv K Lauvset (on behalf of all authors)

This paper presents the latest update to the GLODAPv2 data product, a product that is widely used by the oceanographic community to study the evolving physical and chemical changes of ocean properties. Data from 96 new cruises have been added to the latest iteration of the data product. The entire dataset has undergone extensive quality control and, where necessary, corrected for biases as described in the paper. The paper is well written, supported by relevant figures that help describe the various processing steps. I recommend the paper to be accepted for publication in its current form, except for two small reference formatting suggestions as detailed below. A minor point is that salinity values within the product are still reported as practical salinity, rather than absolute salinity. I suspect there are practical reasons for doing this, since programs like CO2SYS still require practical salinity values as input? Perhaps this will be a consideration for future GLODAP releases.
Minor technical comments:

We thank the reviewer for these kind words and the nice assessment of our manuscript. The reference list has been updated with the missing DOIs.
Regarding practical salinity vs. absolute salinity we report the former because this is the measured variable, and therefore the variable reported in the cruise data files. GLODAP also includes some derived variables in the data product (such as apparent oxygen utilization and neutral density) so adding absolute salinity is a good suggestion that we will discuss in more detail for future products. No changes have been made to this version of the data product, or the manuscript.
Sincerely,
Siv K Lauvset (on behalf of all authors)
